When courage meets opportunity
Picture this: Paul's been sitting in a prison cell for two years. Two. Whole. Years. If you've ever felt stuck in a waiting season—waiting for the right job, the right relationship, the right breakthrough—you know that feeling of 'God, what are you doing with my life right now?'
Then one day, Paul gets dragged into a courtroom. Standing in front of him? King Agrippa, whose great-grandfather tried to kill baby Jesus, whose great-uncle beheaded John the Baptist, and whose dad killed the apostle James. This family had a track record of hating everything Paul stood for.
Most of us would look at that situation and think, 'Well, this is going nowhere.' But Paul does something wild. He looks at Agrippa and basically says, 'I'm so glad we're having this conversation.' He assumes Agrippa actually wants to hear what he has to say. And you know what? He's right. Agrippa literally says, 'I want to hear this man myself.'
Here's what hits me about this: Paul didn't let what he saw on the outside determine what he believed was happening on the inside. He trusted that God had gone ahead of him and prepared this moment. What if we lived like that? What if we stopped assuming people aren't interested in what we have to say about Jesus and started believing that God's already been working on their hearts?
