Privacy Policy — Scripture Journey

What We Collect

Scripture Journey collects the minimum data needed to power your personal Bible study companion:

• Email address — used for account sign-in and daily reminders
• Your study history — journeys started, days completed, journals written, so we can resume your progress across devices
• Journal entries — your written reflections, stored privately and used by our AI companion to connect ideas across entries
• Optional onboarding answers — tradition, experience level, life situation, so we can recommend relevant journeys
• Optional Groups — group membership, the display name you choose, and messages you explicitly post. Your private journal and sermon notes are never automatically posted. Completed-session counts are shared with the host only when you turn sharing on.
• Optional push notifications — if enabled, an installation identifier, device push token, timezone, category preferences, and delivery status. Expo and Apple or Google process notification delivery. Categories start off; device permission alone does not enable them. Notification previews contain generic reminders, not private writing.
• Group safety reports — reports, block choices, and a copy of a reported message so support can review it even after the message is removed.
• Anonymous analytics — feature usage, completion rates, and crash logs, tied to a random device identifier that is never linked to your name or account. No personal content is tied to analytics events.

How We Store It

All data is stored securely on Supabase infrastructure in the United States. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. We use row-level security policies to protect private account data and restrict group discussions to group members. Unsent writing can also be saved on your device in a draft associated with your account.

AI Features

Scripture Journey uses Anthropic (Claude) and OpenRouter to power its AI study companion, sermon-based journey generation, and language insights. When you interact with these features, your relevant content (journal entries, sermon transcripts, passage references) is sent to the provider for inference only. These providers do not train their models on your data per their enterprise terms. Generated content and your conversations are stored in your account and visible only to you.

Sermon Content & Attribution

Scripture Journey generates 5-day Bible study journeys based on publicly available church sermons. Sermons are sourced from public YouTube channels with English captions enabled. Original 5-day study content is created by AI using the Bible as the primary source — the sermon informs which passage and themes to cover, but the study itself is original commentary, not a reproduction of the sermon. We name pastors and attribute their work in good faith. If you are a pastor or church and have concerns about content generated from your sermons, contact us at support@pepstarllc.com.

Pricing

Scripture Journey is currently free, with full access to every feature and no in-app purchases or subscriptions. If we introduce optional premium features later, billing will be handled by Apple — we will never store credit card numbers or payment details — and existing users will get clear notice before anything changes.

Groups and Notification Choices

Messages you send to a group are visible to its current and future members. Your journal, sermon notes, and AI conversations stay private. You can remove your messages, block another member, report content, and turn off progress sharing. Leaving a group does not remove messages you already posted; delete them first if you want them removed. Closing a group removes its discussion. Safety reports may retain a reported-message copy for review. Account deletion removes associated group data and reports.

Remote notifications are optional and separate from daily reminders scheduled on your device. You can disable notification categories in Settings. Signing out attempts to detach the installation; signing in with another account reconciles the association and leaves notifications off until that account enables them.

What We Don't Do

• We do not sell your data to third parties
• We do not display advertisements
• We do not train AI models on your data
• We do not share your journal entries with churches, pastors, or other users
• We do not collect your location or browsing history
• We do not track you across other apps or websites, and the analytics identifier is never linked to your identity

Children's Privacy

Scripture Journey is designed for users 13 years and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If a parent or guardian believes their child has provided personal information, contact support@pepstarllc.com and we will delete it.

Data Deletion

To request deletion of your account and all associated data, email support@pepstarllc.com from your registered email address. We will delete all associated data within 30 days.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated in-app and via email. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
