When God Shows Up in Unexpected Places

Jonah was a prophet — someone who literally talked to God for a living. And yet when God told him to go to Nineveh, he booked a ticket in the exact opposite direction. Not just a little detour. We're talking Iraq to Spain levels of avoidance.

Here's what gets me: Jonah didn't run because he misunderstood God. He ran because he understood God perfectly. He knew God was merciful. He knew God would probably forgive the Ninevites if they turned around. And Jonah? He didn't want them forgiven. These were brutal enemies of Israel. In Jonah's mind, they deserved destruction, not a second chance.
