What grows in the dark
Picture a farmer who plants good seed in his field. He does everything right. But while everyone's asleep, an enemy sneaks in and plants weeds right alongside the wheat. When the plants start growing, the workers notice something's wrong. "Boss, didn't you plant good seed? Where did all these weeds come from?" The farmer knows exactly what happened. "An enemy did this."
This isn't just a story about farming. Jesus is painting a picture of what the kingdom of heaven actually looks like right now, in real time. And here's the uncomfortable truth: good and bad are growing up together. The wheat and the weeds look almost identical at first. Their roots get tangled up. You can't pull one without damaging the other.
The servants want to fix it immediately. "Should we go pull up all the weeds?" But the farmer says no. Not yet. Let them grow together until harvest time. Then we'll sort it all out.
If you just got baptized last week or you're brand new to following Jesus, this parable is both a warning and a comfort. The warning: you have an enemy who wants to mess with what God is planting in your life. The comfort: God's got this. He sees what's happening. He knows the difference between wheat and weeds even when we can't tell. And there's a harvest coming where everything gets sorted out.
You don't have to be the judge. You don't have to figure out who's real and who's fake. That's not your job. Your job is to keep growing.

Write about a time when you tried to 'fix' something or someone too quickly, before God's timing. What happened? What would you do differently now?
