First Impressions
What if everything you thought about heaven was wrong?
Imagine standing at a fork in the road. One path is wide, smooth, well-traveled. The other is narrow, rocky, less obvious. Which would you pick? Most of us would instinctively choose the easier route. But Jesus says something that should make us stop in our tracks: the easy path leads to destruction, and most people are on it.
This isn't a feel-good message. Jesus is closing out the Sermon on the Mount, and he's not pulling punches. He's talking to people who showed up to hear him preach — religious people, church people, people who thought they had this salvation thing figured out. And he's saying, 'A lot of you are on the wrong path, and you don't even know it.'
Here's what's wild: Jesus isn't talking about atheists or people who reject God outright. He's talking to people who call him 'Lord.' People who go to church. People who know the right words to say. And he's warning them that saying the right things and actually surrendering your life to him are two very different things. This week, we're going to wrestle with a question that matters more than anything else: How do you know if you're saved? Not how do you hope. Not how do you think. How do you know?
